Review: Where The Road Takes Me by Jay McLean

Chloe has one plan for the future, and one plan only: the road. She’s made a promise to herself: don’t let anyone in, and don’t let anyone love her. She’s learned the hard way what happens if she breaks her rules. So she’s focused on being invisible and waiting until she can set out on the road—her dream of freedom, at least for a little while.

Blake Hunter is a basketball star who has it all—everything about him looks perfect to those on the other side of his protective walls. He can’t let anyone see the shattered pieces behind the flawless facade or else all his hopes and dreams will disappear.

One dark night throws Chloe and Blake together, changing everything for Blake. For Chloe, nothing changes: she has the road, and she’s focused on it. But when the so-called perfect boy starts to notice the invisible girl, they discover that sometimes with love, no one knows where the road may lead.

My Review

I’ve received this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review! I loved this book and it’s cheesy moments and scenes. I loved how it switched the POV of Blake and Chloe so we were able to know their feelings and how they felt. As the story progresses, Chloe is afraid to fall in love and she is scared to let anyone in. This book was so beautifully written with deep moments and the greatest love story. This story teaches you that love is worth going through it all and much more. This was such a thoughtfully written book, I would recommend it to anyone who loves romance with hardships and afraid of loving back someone. Such a beautiful story, I am looking forward to reading more from the author. Aside from this amazing plot of the novel, the cover is so gorgeous! I must buy it to put it in my bookshelf!
This book receives 5 beating hearts!!

My Review:

WHAT CAN I SAY?!! I LOVE THIS BOOK. I’M SO MAD I HAVE TO WAIT FOR SO LONG FOR THE NEXT BOOK IN SERIES!!

This came into my mailbox and it’s an ARC from TeenReads. Thank you to TeenReads for the ARC copy!

The beginning started slowly and then it went action after action. It’s like in mystery books when characters find the clues and then things start getting real and everything comes together. This book is soo good. I’m not even kidding. Everyone should just pick up a copy of it. This book has everything you can name it: romance, mystery, death, loss, emotion, betrayal…. This book is the first series of the Red Queen trilogy. I love the idea of how people’s social class is determined by the color of their blood. If it is red, the people are peasants and poor. If they are silver, they have powers and are in the highest social class. Then, there’s the main character, Mare, a red blood with superpowers. I love so many things about this book. (view spoiler) If I could I would rate this book wayyyy higher. I don’t normally go for stories about princesses and power but OH MY GOD, I can’t stop thinking about the ending. I read this long book an entire day because I couldn’t sleep without knowing what happened. I don’t need sleep! I need to find out what happens next! Be careful when you read this book, you think you know who the enemy is but at the end it can be anyone. Remember this: Keep your friends close but your enemies even closer, At the end anyone can betray anyone! You’ve been warned!

This book deserves 5 bloody stars 🙂

Review: The Last Time We Say Goodbye by Cynthia Hand

There’s death all around us.
We just don’t pay attention.
Until we do.

The last time Lex was happy, it was before. When she had a family that was whole. A boyfriend she loved. Friends who didn’t look at her like she might break down at any moment.

Now she’s just the girl whose brother killed himself. And it feels like that’s all she’ll ever be.

As Lex starts to put her life back together, she tries to block out what happened the night Tyler died. But there’s a secret she hasn’t told anyone-a text Tyler sent, that could have changed everything.

Lex’s brother is gone. But Lex is about to discover that a ghost doesn’t have to be real to keep you from moving on.

From New York Times bestselling author Cynthia Hand, The Last Time We Say Goodbye is a gorgeous and heart-wrenching story of love, loss, and letting go.

My Review:

This is not the first time I have read a book by Cynthia Hand. If I can recall, she was the author who wrote the “Unearthly” Series. I have only read the first book in that series but it was a great read! Which is why, when the author wrote this book, I was quite surprised, I mean this book is about dealing with the loss of a dead brother. I did not see how the author could correlate with the other books she had written. However, I was VERY surprised to see the great job the author had done! I was very intrigued and heartbreaking as the main character in the book. The main character, Alexis is dealing with the loss of her brother and throughout this book, we find ways she was dealing and coping with the loss of her brother. I thought this was an extremely well written book. It was as if I had known her brother, Tyler (Ty) my whole entire life. It was as if he was my own friend. The author did a great job bringing text to self-connection between the book and readers. I highly recommend reading Cynthia Hand’s books, so far none of them have been disappointing but exceeding my standards!

This book deserves 5 heart-wrenching stars!

My Review:

I normally don’t go for stories about royalty, princes, and queens and their clichés love story but this book changed the way I think about these types of stories. This book has everything a reader could possibly want: a love story, an irresistible prince, intense feelings, an interesting plot, and a decision. This just became one of my favorite books of all time. The moment you pick up this book, you are sucked inside. If you are unsure about this book, just pick it up and give it a try. I assure you, you will love it!

As the story begins, we learn of America’s family, social class, and her secret boyfriend Aspen. This part of the story was very sweet and engaging for me. However, as the selection began… (view spoiler) everything changes.

I don’t know if this is a spoiler because I think it’s pretty obvious who was selected based on the synopsis but I don’t want to spoil for anybody

(view spoiler)

Things get pretty interested at the castle during the selection and personally, it was my favorite part getting to know the girls and their characteristics. This book is the first in a series of “The Selection Series” and it was personally one of my favorites. I hope this review has made you interested in this book and added it to you to be read shelf or at least made you a little bit perked about this series. Give it a try! I assure you will enjoy it and you will want to marathon the whole series like I did!

This book is definitely a 5 out of 5 star review!
